Silly Putty
Yoshie Shibahara & POGOensemble
Scenen
–
4/12–6/12 2013
Silly Putty is a dark and playful choreography. Yoshie Shibahara and POGOensemble give form to an experiment: the perfection of human existence through persistent optimizing and rationalizing of every aspect of life.
More and more, people move as mass-compliant players in a collective geared for economy and efficiency, shutting out the demand for individuality in favour of the consensus of community. The utopian goal of an ultra- homogenous way of life provokes its opposite: the road into an unpredictable wonder world of alchemy and mysticism.
In this intersection we meet the ensemble on stage. The harmony of monotonous movement is cut up and the contrast between strict aesthetics and chaos is both humorous and beautiful.
The POGOensemble, consisting of Dilan Ercenk, Denise Temme and Tessa Temme, was formed in 2001 from the study emphasis creativity at the Deutsche Sporthochschule Köln. Apart from being nominees and receiving awards for their choreographical works Henry, Kolonie and Gyntschaft, the POGOensemble succeeded in being granted access to the acclaimed European performance network for young artists, aerowaves 2010, with Ja Ja, der Jodok, in 2010. They presented Silly Putty at 2012 Internationale Tanzmesse in Düsseldorf.
Yoshie Shibahara began her dance education in Osaka, Japan, in 1992. In Germany, she studied elementary dance and completed her postgraduate studies in dance therapy. She has been working as a freelance choreographer and dancer since 2002, closely collaborating with dancer Sachie Tanaka. Yoshie Shibahara’s choreographical works earned her numerous awards. She was supported by the choreographical scholarship of the Kunststiftung NRW twice up to now.
